If the original Potentiometer to act up , You can try to medicate with Contactspray, this culd to effect a little wonder !!!  

 

Tuning with precision-Potentiometers !

The Worktime is round about 20 minutes, to insert a new precision Potentiometer.

In my first Wheel, I'm have build in, a  lineare, Cermet Precision Potentiometer  SPECTROL modell 249 / 100 K Ohm !

To integration , I must to enlarge the  holder  hole , from the Potentiometer up to 6,2 mm

The original center holder , must to dispose .

The angle of Wheel-rotation , can to enlarge, round about  ca. 7, 5  degree to both-way , but it isn't duty.

 The angle of Wheel-rotation can as well, to adjust, only by the Wheel-Calibration in the Game !

 

Attention !!!

The Playstation-2  dont to identify the Wheel by new start, if the Potentiometer isn't  near Center-Position !

Please use no Hot-Glue to mount the Pot axis .

Isn't the electric Center synchronous with the mechanic Center , than You  must to detect the electric Center in the Game . The ohmic resistance , must on either side to resemble !

The exchange from the DC-Motor to a stronger, isnt so simply !

If the new motor to suck to much power, the motorcontroller is destroyed.

If my investigation right, the Logitech GT-Force Wheel / for Playstation 2 , use the Allegro A3953SMB  Full-Bridge PWM Motor Driver .

The Allegro A3953SMB  Full-Bridge PWM Motor Driver, maximum out is 50 Volt / 1,3 A

But this manufacturer, has a 2 A  Full-Bridge PWM Motor Driver too ( A3952SMB )

For my experiments, I have selected the high quality 24 Volt / 20 Watt   Maxon Motor RE 25 with a transmission 19 : 1  

( The original Logitech GT - Force transmission is ca. 40 : 1 )

But I'm not finish jet, to say that it work witout problems !
